Rich History, Breathtaking Nature
The town of Tabab, located in the heart of the Asir region, is considered the first historical capital of the Asir tribe and later the entire region. It was the center of the Al Abu Nuqtah Al-Muthami emirate, which allied with the Imams of the First Saudi State. From Tabab, its influence extended throughout the southwestern Arabian Peninsula. Tabab is considered the first capital in Asir's history until 1818 AD.
Al-Hamdani mentioned Tabab in his book "Sifat Jazirat al-Arab" (Description of the Arabian Peninsula) as one of Asir's most prominent cities and valleys in the fourth century AH (10th century AD), confirming its ancient historical status.
In November 2024, this legacy was crowned with international recognition when the UN Tourism Organization selected the Al Abu Nuqtah forts in historic Tabab as one of the Best Tourism Villages in the world, affirming its prestigious historical, cultural, and tourism status.
